The Long Way Home
Jul 25

What a whirlwind buying trip this week! We found LOTS of fantastic materials for upcoming collections and can't wait to share them all with you through some great new jewelry designs over the coming months. After two solid days of scouring vendors' offerings for beads, clasps, and wire, we decided to head home the long way…and just when we began to question the scenic route, we came across two signs that made the winding road and extra hours completely worth it!

And the group below isn't even half of the fun jewelry finds from this fortuitous stop...but lots of fabulous flowers...and a load of other goodies, too. You'll see them soon in our jewels!

The Road North
Jul 20
We'll always have a soft spot for the North Shore of Chicago--family ties are often strong, right? Now we have another reason to celebrate the area, with some fun features in this month's issue of Sheridan Road magazine, a luxury lifestyle publication covering the best of fashion, food, style, and culture in the area.
Whether your style is "Preppy Nautical" or "Boho Chic" or anywhere in-between, we love that Elva Fields fits the bill when it comes to fashionable accessories. (No matter where you live!)

Lux Life
Jul 12

We love life in Southern California...that beautiful weather! That laid-back attitude! Our family! (Hi, Slug and Zoba!) And though we only occasionally visit (so fun!) we love to live vicariously whenever we can...and Genlux Magazine shows the best in beauty and fashion of SoCal that makes it the happening and luxuriously sunny spot it is.
With a bit of Elva Fields Deb Collection necklaces in the mix for a fashion spread in the latest issue, we love how the glam/rock/beach babe look turned out! And for those of you who live the SoCal life non-vicariously, our jewels are available in two stores in the L.A. area--check out Cami; and House of Honey.

New York State of Mind
Jul 07

One of our dear friends likes to say "Once a New Yorker, always a New Yorker," and we're definitely feeling its truth this week with the latest issue of New York Magazine. The editors selected 110 Jewelry Finds in boutiques and shops around New York, and two necklaces from Elva Fields are featured on the list! Check out the Shop-a-Matic slideshow online or in the latest issue. (And hugs to Legier for reminding us that even though we're immersed in the Bluegrass, we'll always be welcome back in the Big Apple!)
Independent Style
Jul 03

Happy Fourth of July weekend! We hope you all are enjoying some time with family and friends wherever you are...and toasting to this great country and our many freedoms. (And for that extra display of patriotism, how 'bout a fun star-spangled necklace of red and blue?) Have fun!

A Week's Vacation
Jun 14

A whole week without jewelry? It's been a while, but we decided it's only healthy (for life and business) to have some time away from work...despite the fact that we don't really consider it "work" because we love what we do so much. Even still, this week is our official Elva Fields Summer Vacation, and our studio and offices will be closed through Sunday, June 19th. We'll be back in action next week and looking forward to sharing the new jewels with you at the end of the month. (June 30th, to be exact.)
Thanks for being such great customers and see you next week!
Settling In
May 24
Though we're still getting situated in our new digs, we're loving the studio setting so far! First, the acknowledgements: We owe Mama Deb a gigantic thank-you for making the move happen on time and as scheduled...she did ALL of the painting, ALL of the shelving prep, and coordinated ALL of the fun furnishings in our seating area. Better half Patrick constructed most of the rest of the furniture that arrived in boxes with instructions, and has us up and running with new desks and shelves in no time. Et voila! The family affair made it all possible.
Check out some shots of the space below...and stay tuned for more fun updates from the brand new Elva Fields Headquarters as we settle in over the coming weeks.

Where the design and production magic happens...our new desks and shelves!

Lots of storage for our goods...

Our sitting area (with Holiday 2010 Collection earring proposals on trays...yes, we're already working on holiday!) featuring a vintage rattan sofa originally from great-grandmother Elva Fields' porch (recovered in our signature colors, of course.)

A studio-warming gift from Deb--we saw these chairs at an antique store and fell in love...but they were sold. Somehow she tracked them down for our new space as a fun (and incredibly special) surprise. We were overjoyed...but wish we had more time to relax in them!
Sweet As Honey
May 12

Elva Fields fans in L.A. now have a new source for beautiful baubles for the neck...and for the home! Interior designer Tamara Kaye-Honey has just opened her gorgeous showroom in South Pasadena, where you can see her eclectic mix of finds that define her signature style--The New Vintage. In short, it's fabulous. And not just because of the jewelry...but we love that we feel right at home on the West Coast!
For more information, check out the House of Honey website http://www.houseofhoney.la or visit the showroom at : 1518 A Mission Street in South Pasadena. 626.441.2454

LA LA land

The Los Angeles Times was kind enough to feature one of our Spring Collection necklaces for a special style feature on lucite accessories. It’s no secret that we love some lucite around here at Elva Fields, and the necklace they chose to photograph is no exception…check out the article below for some tips on how to incorporate some luscious lucite to your wardrobe.

Operation Relocation
Apr 28

The latest excitement here at Elva Fields is our upcoming move from the home studio in a few weeks. We will definitely miss being in the woods of the Kentucky countryside, but it’s time to fly the nest and have a bit more room to grow, so we’re headed to studio space in town.
There’s still much to be done, but here’s a quick update on the progress so far (all thanks to our interior design consultant and painter extraordinaire, Mama Deb!) We’ll show you the “before” pics once it’s complete, but let’s just say she’s done wonders with some not-so-stylish wood paneling.
Stay tuned for more pictures soon, and wish us luck with Operation Relocation!

Engaging

We love weddings here at Elva Fields…and we are always honored to be part of a bride and groom’s plans—from the engagement to the big day, and even beyond (anniversaries are one of our specialties!) It is so special for us to help a bride make a statement—whatever style that may be for her—with fun jewelry for the occasion.
You can imagine, then, our joy at seeing beautiful-bride-to-be, Laura, in her favorite Elva Fields necklace for her GORGEOUS engagement photos with her fiance Bo in Savannah, Georgia. While we love love love the inclusion of Elva in such a stunning setting, we must give serious props to the talents and skills of Richard Ellis Photography out of Charleston, South Carolina. (Any southern brides looking for a photographer??? Look no further!) Their work is fantastic, and we’re not just saying that because they gave the Elva necklace its own close-up.
Best wishes to Laura and Bo…and to see more pics from the shoot…check out the Richard Ellis Photography Blog.
Lucky Us!
Apr 05

We were both overjoyed and appreciative when we saw the May issue of Lucky magazine that includes a mention of Elva Fields as a favorite site to shop by one of our favorite bloggers, Roseline Lohr of {this is glamorous}.
Since its debut in 2002, we have depended on Lucky for the latest and greatest of shopping—from fashion to home to beauty—and we were honored to be included in its pages. Though a more recent find, we have much love for the gorgeous interiors, layouts, and fashionable finds in {this is glamorous} and always look forward to the beautiful and thoughtful posts.
Lohr will be featured as a guest blogger for Lucky magazine from April 12th through the 16th, so enjoy the double-whammy of style and insight later this month!

On the "Rode" Again
Mar 23

Our trunks are packed (almost) and our spring trunk show series is nearly off to a running start! Our first show of the season will be a two-day event this Friday and Saturday (the 26th and 27th) at Rodes for Her, one of the oldest and most respected clothiers in the area.
We’ll be pairing up with Rebecca Hook Jewelry, another local designer (who just happens to be family!) and showing off our latest spring collections. We’d love to see you, so stop on by between 10 and 6 either day for a chance to see the jewels and visit with us!
Martha, Martha, Martha
Mar 19
She is more than crafty with scissors and glue…and makes a feast for any occasion…and her Weddings…well, let’s just say that more than a few million brides have followed her and her style team’s helpful hints. Martha Stewart knows her nuptuals, which is why we were over the moon about being included on her Bride’s Guide wedding blog this week!
We love helping brides and bridesmaids alike with fashionable accessories for the big day, so a big thank-you to Britni Wood, style expert for Martha Stewart Weddings for the mention!

The Mrs.
Mar 15

You’ve never met a Mrs. quite like this…she has impeccable taste, is generous with style, and rhymes to boot! She’s loves and lives the good life, filled to the brim with color, confection, and class…and her assortments of fanciful fashion and fun are to die for. Mrs. Lilien is, in short, “visual brilliance.” Fall in love
here.

Pioneer Days
Mar 10
We love how a love of beautiful things can bring people together. Enter Katie, the NEO-traditionalist blogger (but she’s so much more!) who posts about fabulous design of all kinds—from bookends to beach towels—and offers her own assortment of fashionable flea-market finds to the mix (and those are for sale!) One look at her blog, and we knew we liked her.
Her most recent Monday posts have introduced readers to Plucky Pioneers, women “on the design frontier,” and we were both thrilled and honored to take part in the series. The interview questions were such fun, and we can’t thank her enough for asking us to be involved. Check out the interview, our cheat sheet of favorites, and Katie’s shop …if you love beautiful things, you’re sure to become a fan, too.

Sophisticated Spring
Mar 07
Sophisticated Living’s March-April issue has arrived, and we were delighted at the fashion spread that included a few of our designs! They look lovely with the beautiful clothing from some of our favorite boutiques, and a few of the designs are available at our beloved Clodhoppers.
Spring is close to springing, so be inspired by the sophisticated styling in the glossy pages of this great magazine, and add some Elva Fields to your ensembles.

Designer Label
Feb 16

After much prodding and suggestion from friends, customers, and business advisors alike, we’ve added a new feature to all Elva Fields necklaces: a logo tag! From now on, each necklace that leaves our studio will feature a gold or silver tag that proudly displays our fun Elva Fields logo. We take great pride in our unique, one-of-a-kind designs, and these metal tags will serve as our signature on these handmade creations—distinctive from others in quality, style, and originality.
We hope you’ll appreciate and enjoy this addition as much as you do the jewelry itself!
