The Old West

Nov 15

Collier West is definitely our favorite shop in Columbus, Ohio—stocked with an incredibly well-edited collection of home accessories, lighting, textiles, furniture, gifts, and jewelry that is laid out so beautifully you could spend all day in their Short North spot.

Their latest photo shoot with neighboring businesses in the gallery-hop district is a true testament to their sharp eye for style—we not only love the antique hand-painted chair in the shot, but we adore how beautiful our necklace looks perched atop it!

We’re currently planning a trunk show for early December at Collier West, so stay tuned for details and hope to see you there! (And—trust us—you’ll want to move in once you see their gorgeous goods.)

Holly Days

Nov 14

Shop it up this weekend at the Lexington Junior League’s Holly Day Market at the Lexington Covention Center’s Heritage Hall for great, unique items that are perfect for gifts (or a little something for yourself!) We’ll miss having our own booth this year, but we have a few necklaces on display (for sale!) with AJ’s of Lexington…our newest Bluegrass location!

If you can’t make it to the Market, head to AJ’s on Clay Avenue afterwards for some goodies from Elva…we’re planning a trunk show in December for the holidays, so stay tuned for more updates on that front. In the meantime, Happy Holly Days!

Runway Recap

Nov 13

Last night’s Product Runway was a smashing success! We loved seeing the results of such creative work and were blown away by the fashions fabricated of various design materials, including tile, lighting, wall coverings, and upholstery fabric.

Some of the highlights of the evening were the fashions using Elva Fields Jewelry as part of their ensemble—including a tree/nature-inspired design (perfect for our eco-friendly Deb line necklace with vintage goldtone chains and leaves)…by Lindsay Hazzard for Bittners and Brandi Pash with Patcraft Designweave Carpeting

…and our vintage costume pearl clusters looked fabulous on the Glamazon stylista in drag…

…and a vintage goldtone chain necklace and set of vintage bracelets were a great compliment to the gorgeous garment worn and co-designed by Misty Potter McCubbin for ORI and by Larry Fuhs with Designtex that won second place in the competition.

It was a pleasure to be involved with the event—the local chapter of the International Interior Design Association’s planning committee did a fabulous job pulling off a fantastic event—a full house, great music, and a runway lineup to remember leave us all excited for next year’s show.

What's In A Name

Nov 12

While we’re sure there are plenty of Emily Maynards on the planet…we’re partial to the ones who specialize in design (jewelry, interiors, fashion…) And, since the only other Emily Maynard we’ve ever officially met is also a sister-in-law, (two brothers married two Emilys) we love her even more!

She has quickly spread the Elva Fields word on the West Coast by wearing our jewelry all over L.A., and she has also made quite a name for herself by founding her own interior design firm earlier this year. George Interior Design handles both commercial and residential projects, and all are done spectacularly, professionally, and stylishly. The best part (besides how beautiful the results are) is that she and her team work with a wide range of budgets, so whether you’re hoping for an updated living room in your first apartment or a suite of offices for your new corporate headquarters—George Interior Design is up for the challenge.

We’re more than happy to share a name with such a talented designer—and we’ll definitely be enlisting GID when we update this Emily’s jewelry studio. One day. Soon, we hope.

Blissed Out

Nov 08

On a recent trip to Maine, we stopped in a comfortably chic shop called Bliss…and we’re now happy to announce that they will be carrying Elva Fields Jewelry along with their fashionable labels like Butter, Sunner, J Brand, and Seven for all Mankind. Owner Angela Foddrell stocks only the most wearable and unique styles, and the store’s assistants couldn’t be nicer. With locations in Portland, Maine and Portsmouth, New Hampshire, we can’t wait to find new fans in two great states this upcoming holiday season.

It's Runway Time

Nov 08

This Thursday evening, leaders in the local design community will work the runway with garments they fashioned from carpet, paint, upholstery fabric, or wall coverings…and with Elva Fields Jewelry as the highlighted accessory!

The competition, hosted by the International Interior Design Association, will take place at Louisville’s downtown Hyatt at 7:00. Tickets for the event are available for sale at Clodhoppers for $20 ($15 for students!) and swag bags of fun design goodies will be offered to the first 200 guests. Seating is first-come, first-served, so arrive on time for prime runway views to watch the competition heat up amongst the 13 teams vying for the win!

Style Down South

Nov 03

Say what you want about life in the South…we speak slowly, sip sugary sweet tea, and the whole “y’all” thing is a phenomenon to anyone above the Mason-Dixon. But make no mistake about it—there is plenty of style to be found down south along with those stereotypes, and that certainly goes for Femme, a fantastic little boutique in Mobile, Alabama.

The boutique stocks a number of fun and fashionable clothing lines for women, and they’ve just added Elva Fields Jewelry to their accessories list. We sent a box full of an assortment of pieces from our Elva, June, and Deb lines, so stop on by and check it out, y’all.

Ladies Night

Oct 30

Live and in color—our first trunk show of the fall season is next Thursday, November 5th at Old National Bank on Shelbyville Road in Louisville. As a fundraiser for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, we’ll be donating a percentage of every purchase to LLS, so bring your girlfriends and enjoy an evening of shopping with other local retailers and make a difference in our community.

Hope to see you there!

Yes Mayme

Oct 30

The latest addition to our growing list of retailers is a fantastic design shop (with an interior design firm attached) in Greenville, South Carolina called Mayme Baker Studio. Although we can’t wait to visit ourselves, we hear they have the most divine finds for home and life (closets and jewelry boxes count, too) and we were so happy to hear they wanted to feature Elva Fields with the gorgeous goods they carry in their stylish spot.

A box of necklaces and earrings from our studio to theirs should be arriving as we write, so head on over to Greenville’s Mayme Baker Studio for a peek at the new jewels…judging from the pictures of their offerings, you won’t be disappointed you made the trip!

We Fell Into It

Oct 30

Well, we fell right into fabulous for the Younger Woman’s Club Fall Into Fabulous Fashion Show earlier this month…despite the deluge, the Seelbach’s ball room was packed with fashionistas waiting for the latest styles on the runway.

Cocktail hour was hopping with delicious drinks provided by PAMA liqueurs, and the Elva Fields Jewelry models worked the crowd in their glittering and glamorous accessories. After our debut on live television with a segment on WHAS 11 earlier in the week, we were really excited to be part of the main event. We caught a few of the favorite designs on camera between “wardrobe” changes and loved working with the fantastic women who modeled for us—truly made the evening special and fun.

Many thanks go out to the ladies who made the night so incredibly successful—not just for local boutiques and designers, but for the many Kentuckiana area charities that will benefit from the funds raised that evening. Jennifer Metzger Stinnett and Jessica Moore, Co-Chairs of the event, not only looked like the fabulous women they are that night, but they also worked tirelessly with their “fabulous” committee to make it all happen beautifully…and props to Steph Horne, Ashley Casebier, Kristen Miller, and Beth Northup for their fantastic work in fundraising, model management, silent auction, and PR!

If you missed the show, join us next year—or, better yet, join the Club! Learn more at www.ywclouisville.org.

Fall for Boho

Oct 30

We’ve already confirmed our love for Boho magazine in earlier posts, but this fall’s issue keeps the flame alive…they just hit the mark with a perfect mix of fashion, style, and beauty when it comes to eco-conscious living.

The featured fashion shoot in the issue, styled by Lisa Bradkin and Darshan Gress, is gorgeously “green,” with lots of luxe layering and earthy (and earth-friendly!) designs. We can’t help but be especially pleased (thrilled, really) by the inclusion of a pair of Elva Fields earrings from our June line—the vintage brass drops date to the 1940s and are the perfect go-to basic for a vintage touch to any outfit. Available online for just $40.

Room at the Top

Oct 30

21c Museum Hotel has offered something unique and thought-provoking since its debut downtown in 2006, and we love that Louisville can boast such a creative (and not to mention stylish) boutique hotel amongst its many notable city spots to see and experience.

What’s even better is that others outside of the “’ville” agree—Conde Nast Traveller and its readers have just ranked 21c Museum Hotel as the #1 Hotel in the United States and #6 in the entire world. Wow. Between the customer service (we are big fans of the kind, cool, and incredibly helpful staff) and the amazing design (just using the restroom is an event to remember) we couldn’t be happier about being a part of 21c in even the smallest way—congrats to everyone at the Museum Hotel for an honor and award that is well deserved!

And, when you go (because you must), check out our jewels in the gift shop…a drink at Proof, the hotel bar, is much more exciting with some fun local jewelry hanging from your ears or your neck!

We'll Be Here All Week

Sep 27

Welcome to the Fall Collection! We hope you love what we’ve included so far…but please come back for another visit soon, since we’ll be adding new pieces all week and throughout early October. It’s first come, first serve with these one-of-a-kind necklaces, so if one of the designs truly lights your world on fire, definitely go for it…we love our job, but a customer’s heartbreak over a sold necklace is a the rare down side of life here at Elva Fields Jewelry.

Again, enjoy the collection and thanks so much for visiting!

Product Runway

Sep 27

Even if you’re not addicted to one of the best shows on television, you’ve likely at least heard of Project Runway—where aspiring designers compete in a series of fashion challenges with Heidi Klum as host and a panel of fashion-celebrity judges.

With a fun spin on the idea, the International Interior Design Association will host their own “Product Runway,” showcasing fashions incorporating or even made entirely of design elements like wall coverings, tile, or paint. Not only are we anticipating wildly inventive creations at this not-to-be-missed runway show, we’re honored to be the official jewelery designer for the event.

Join the art and design community on Thursday November 12th at the Hyatt downtown to see true creative collaboration at work in a fashion runway show unlike any other.

(In the meantime…check out one of our favorite shows to see the inspiration for the event…Thursdays on Lifetime!)

Fall Into Fabulous

Sep 26

When those monster issues of Vogue and Bazaar appear in our mailbox, we know it’s that time of year. The leaves may not quite be changing just yet, but it’s officially time for fall fashion, and that is cause for a celebration of the new season!

To get a peek at the best of the best here in Louisville, you’ll want to head over to the Seelbach on October 8th for the Younger Woman’s Club’s Fall into Fabulous fashion show…the list of boutiques and designers is long and star-studded, and we’re sure the clothing and accessories will be, too.

A few things we know without a doubt:

—tickets will sell out, so get yours now at the Younger Woman’s Club of Louisville website

—the swag bags for attendees will have a fantastically fun little something from Elva Fields Jewelry

—the cocktail hour will not only showcase PAMA libations, but also some beautiful baubles by Elva Fields modeled by some of the YWC’s stylish ladies

—among the amazing silent auction items is an exclusive “Day with the Designer” that features an afternoon with Elva Fields owner Emily Wheat Maynard during which the winner will help to design a custom piece of jewelry to add to their collection

—all proceeds from the event benefit an incredible group of charitable agencies in the Louisville community, so make a difference while enjoying a night out (both will be worth it)

Hope to see you there!

Our Travels 'Round the Blogosphere

Sep 26

So it all started, as far as we can tell, with Destined to Design, a California designer’s blog about “pretty places and beautiful things” (both right up our alley!)

An entry on Elva Fields Jewelry sparked an interest on another great blog…(this one out of North Carolina and by a very talented graphic designer with her own thriving business creating beautiful stationery…check it out here !)

and another great blog

and one more called Melissa Loves…

…and now we feel like we have a whole new audience amongst the design community! It’s a wonderful feeling to introduce new fans to our jewelry, and we are really excited to have you all visit the site as often as you can or want to. We’ll do our best to keep you coming back for more fun jewelry!

Tales from a Photo Shoot

Sep 26

We’ve decided to let you all in on a little secret…here at Elva Fields we are a family. Literally. Owner and husband collaborate on many projects around the studio, and—since the studio is at home—it is always a family affair. Our monthly photo shoots are no exception.

September’s fall shoot actually took place right down the road from home, so we packed up the baby and our photo gear in her stroller and headed to our neighbor’s farm for a quick round with the camera.

The weather and light were perfect…and we found a great spot near a goat pasture (really, we promise) with the coolest abandoned barn—weathered wood seemed to be a nice juxtaposition with the sparkling jewelry.

Our daughter kept the camera bag safe…and even appeared to be directing the shot at one point.

We’re happy with the results and hope you are, too!

Taking on Tennessee

Sep 11

We discovered a fabulously stylish boutique during our summer travels called Kristi, in the Bearden area of Knoxville, Tennessee. It’s a beautiful store in a sleek new setting at Cherokee Plaza, and we’re happy to report that, as of this afternoon, they have a fantastic selection of necklaces and earrings from Elva Fields amongst their beautiful clothing and accessories!

We’re excited to grow our fan list in East Tennessee, and we’re already looking forward to our next trip down to do some shopping of our own…hopefully on a Third Thursday (see below for the excitement!)

New in the 'Nati

Sep 07

Over the river and through the woods from our studio…We are thrilled to have our jewelry in one of the most stylish shops in Cincinnati! Alligator Purse in Hyde Park Square is consistently stocked with the most fabulous clothes and accessories, and we just delivered a small collection of earrings and necklaces from our Elva, Deb, and June lines for them to include with their offerings. If you’re in the Cincy area, stop by to see the fashionable fall line-up…or you can browse their goods online at shopalligatorpurse.com.

Dynamic Duo

Sep 03

Contributing stylist Kira Simpson has done it again! In Louisville Magazine’s September issue, she puts together some great day-to-evening ensembles for a mother and daughter team in the style spread “Like Mother Like Daughter.” Not only do the photos attest to how much fun they had on the project, but we love that the Elva Fields earrings modeled by the daughter look fantastic with several outfits. One of the looks is pictured below, and the earrings…well, they’d look fantastic on you, too! (And because they’re made of vintage brass beads, they are limited editions, so get them while you can!)
